Abstract:
(Critical) This program discusses two occupational hazards: cotton dust and the pesticide, DBCP. Formal interviews with victims of the diseases' effects cover such topics as industrial hazards, the use of people as guinea pigs, sterility problems, and health and safety regulations. The obstacles to workers seeking compensations are illustrated in these very realistic and moving interviews. Fundamental questions about controlling occupational hazards are raised, and industry's reluctance to confront these problems is demonstrated. Although this is a well made program, more scientific data should be incorporated, and the visual quality should be improved. The program is accurate, consistent and is recommended for use.
