Characterized by chronic cough and shortness of breath, emphysema is one of the big three chronic obstructive pulmonary diseases. In fact, it is more serious than either bronchitis or asthma. Through colorful animations and diagrams, the narrator explains the anatomy of the human respiratory system, the cause of emphysema and its symptoms, and what can be done to treat emphysema. The rate of emphysema in the United States is growing rapidly, and smokers tend to have a more difficult time with this disease.
