Abstract:
Patients at the Schieffelin Leprosy Research Sanatorium in India are profiled. They are often successfully treated for the diease but suffer severe damage and ulceration to their feet because of a loss of pain sensation. The plaster cast is a good way of protecting the foot whilst allowing the patient to remain active. Sandals and new ways of standing and walking can also help by properly distributing pressure on the foot. Program also includes general information on the anti-leprosy campaign in India and the work of the paramedical worker in leprosy treatment.
