Abstract:
This program is one in a series that explores the five senses. This episode focuses on touch, often considered the most powerful of the five. It may also be the most suppressed, bound by strict cultural rules. The program details the results of research into the complexity of the tactile sense, how nerves respond and the brain processes the sensation. Touch is central to the development of young children and helps to heal the physically and emotionally wounded.
