Abstract:
Dr. F. William Wagner of the Rancho Los Amigos Hospital in Downey, California delivers a lecture with slides and images about the effects of diabetes on the foot. Circulation becomes a problem, and people suffer from neuropathy. Feet are easily injured, sores develop, and the foot and leg do not heal. Amputation is frequently necessary, but the lecture addresses how to prevent and treat injuries and avoid amputation.Specially designed footwear as well as early, regular medical attention are necessary. Successful cases are presented, as well as those where disease is advanced enough that amputation cannot be avoided.
