In this letter Crick responded to Andre Lwoff's concern that the two chains of the double helix of DNA would appear to code for different proteins because being complementary, the two chains had a different base sequence. Both Crick and Lwoff thought this would be unlikely, but could not explain how such a conclusion might be avoided.
