Three scenes describe the alcoholic's world. The first scene is in the asylum yard where a man is punching another man. The second scene is after treatment. The man is holding his baby and is welcomed by his wife and child, and another man is shaking his hand. The third scene is the family life of the alcoholic. A nurse and abandoned children are on the grounds of an institution. At the home of an alcoholic the man is away at the tavern. A woman is sitting on a bed sewing. A toddler is on the floor with arms raised and mouth opened. Another child is on a chair looking out the window, wearing a only shirt. A third child is dragging a bottle on a string. Through the wall is an image of a shadow of a woman with a child on her back and one by her side walking away.
