In a speech to the World Mental Health Assembly in Washington, D.C., Gorman summarized the development of the community mental health center in the U.S., and noted that while it had brought some patients back into the community, the larger mental health system still did not provide continuity of care, such care was not adequately funded, and professional turf wars still posed an obstacle.
