The bottom one represents the view from the door of William Palmer's cell, with caption: "Condemned cell in Newgate". The upper one represents the "Gallery leading from Newgate to the Central Criminal Court". On the upper half of page 177 is an illustration of "Cells below the Central Criminal Court" with four guards, while the bottom half is a section of the trial transcript.
