In this lecture before the Trustees of the Salk Institute for Biological Studies, an audience mostly of non-scientists, Crick surveyed the basics of DNA chemistry and the direction of DNA research. Throughout his life, Crick lectured from handwritten notes rather than from a script, and he rarely allowed his lectures to be published, leaving his notes as the only record of what he said.
