- Mrs. Richel, descriptive cataloger, at her desk. Image caption on page 46 of the book US National Library of Medicine: "Library staff cataloging with hand-typed catalog cards and printed indexes that aided the compiling of bibliographic information, ca. late 1940s. Some materials would be singled out for photoduplication for improved access. This would mean microfilming, if an entire volume was to be duplicated, or photostats (a predecessor to modern photocopies) if only a few pages needed to be copied."
