- A man, sitting in a tub of water, is being treated for heat prostration; in addition to sitting in the water a man is holding a large block of ice on his head and a physician is taking his pulse. In bad years in the past casualties from disease at the pilgrimage were counted in tend of thousands, and the return of pilgrims to their homelands often meant a side scatter of infection. In 1961, although 1,186,000 pilgrims from 70 countries want to Medea, there was no case of quantihablo diesease, thanks to control measures. Efforts are now concentrating on heat diseases, results in this field are being achived by imprved water supplies and hosptial facilities, mobile health units and a modern ice factory at the foot of Mt.
