The advent of smallpox vaccination was the opening of a grat chapter in the history of world medicine, but there were vested intrests at stake and Jenner's method was opposed by inocualtion specialists. However, after a good many tests ans counter tests, all of which were successful, the wind started to turn. Vaccination spreads to many parts of the world despite opposition. In Naples and Sicily, religious processions greet the arrival of the vaccine.
