Close-up of tiny transmitter used to broadcast heart sounds to a raido receiver. Verso: WHO/9234-9239-9245. England-Research-Cardiovascular Diseases. Heartbeats on the radio. The sound of the dog's heart beats is picked up by a microphone stuck to his fur over the region of the heart (WHO/9234) and is broadcast by a miniature transmitter (WHO/9245) attached to his collar. The radio receiver (WHO/9239) records the broadcast. The dog id quite unhampered and free to move about, so his heart rate can be observed under natural conditions of astronauts in outer space is recorded by similar means. With this method great progress may be achived in cardiology since observations can be made from afar, over long periods of time and in partically any circumstances.
