According to Dr. Paul Dudley White, the noted cardiologists, the prevention of heart disease " has attracted less attention than its diagnosis and treatment. It obviously deserves the first priority but it is less dramatic than surgical procedures .. and the doctors are over worked simply taking care of sick people." While the World Health Orgainzation is concerned with the treatment of cardiovascular diseases, the greater concern is with their prevention, at the indivdual and community levels.
