- Interior view: two technicians are sitting at a bench; one of them is looking into a microscope. Verso: Early detection of cancer saves lives- World Health Day 7 April 1970. A clue to understanding the causes of a certain form of oesophagus cancer may be found in the semi-desert stretches of Iran, near the Caspian Sea, as the distribution of cancer seems to be realted to diffrences in climate and soil. What may be discovered here will perhaps point the way to other answers in the complex web of cancer riddles. Dr. Janez kmet, a staff member of the Intrnational Agency for Research on cancer, works closley with a team of physicians and technicians who permently scan the Caspian littoral collecting all available information from local doctors.
