Verso: WHO/11030. USSR-Cancer. The USSR against cancer. In a special issue World Health sets out to show how the world's second leading cause of deathis being fought. In its fight against cancer, the USSR concenntrates on mass examination, treatment and research. All men over 35 and all women over 30 have to be examined at least once a year. Twenty million people in the USSR were examined in 1963 and the mass campaign, begun in 1948, is being intensified in 1964. A restroom int he Institute of Clinical and Experimental Oncology. Some 15 kilometers from the centre of Moscow, this Institute comes under the Academy of Medical Sciences of the USSR.
