Abstract:
(Critical) This program, in the format of a group session, illustrates from different angles the effect of an adolescent boy's leukemia on the family and on the marriage. A number of seldom verbalized but crucial factors are discussed candidly by the family, such as the feeling of guilt on part of the parents and anger toward the physician who gives the final diagnosis, resentment on part of the siblings, and the desire of the ill son to be treated as a normal person as much as possible. The entire presentation is well done with the exception of the presence of an unnamed extra person during the session and the upside-down picture of bicycle riders on the wall. The program is recommended.
