Abstract:
(Critical) This program presents three patients with situations that highlight some of the issues presented in the first two programs in this series on thromboembolic problems. These include a woman on birth control pills who comes into the physician's office complaining of calf pain; a second patient develops pain and swelling of his leg postoperatively; and a third patient with a previous history of well documented venous thrombosis who is planning to undergo elective abdominal surgery Problems in diagnosis, treatment, and prevention of venous thrmobosis are discussed for each case. The objectives of this presentation are presented and accomplished in a clear, logical manner and thus, the program is highly recommended for medical, nursing and physicians' assistants students.
