Abstract:
(Producer) This program discusses Sudden Infant Death Syndrome by profiling four families who have lost their children to this disease. The film explains that SIDS is the leading cause of death in infants one month to one year of age and that the exact cause of the syndrome is unknown and presently under research. The aspects of fear, guilt and ignorance felt by the parents and how social workers, doctors, nurses and coroners investigators can help them deal with these problems are explored. This program could be used in nursing schools and in hospital staff development education.
