This is a color illustrated postcard for a depurative containing potassium iodide. It evokes herbal remedies from Ancient Rome, and the scene depicts an old woman selling a remedy to two younger women in Roman dress. The old woman wears a long black dress with broad sleeves and a brown striped scarf over her head. Her back is shown, although her head is turned slightly to reveal her profile. She stands behind a stone counter in a stone archway of a building. In her left hand she holds a bottle. On the counter in front her are more bottles and bowls, and a lidded pot. Another bowl is on a table behind her. There are dried herbs hanging from the arch, a bird in a cage is suspended from the top of the arch, and a black cat is standing next to her. The Roman woman on the left is looking at a container in her right hand. She wears a pink tunic, belted at the waist, and a long white veil. The woman on the right is taller. She is looking at the old woman. She is dressed in a light color tunic with a green cloak and green veil.
