Image caption on page 88 of the book US National Library of Medicine: "After the separation of the library and the museum, both physically, with the demolition of the 'Old Red Brick,' and legislatively, each institution grew to fill important roles in national and international medical research and education. The Museum remained under the control of the US Army until 2015, when it was transferred to the Department of Defense. Now known as the National Museum of Health and Medicine, the Museum relocated to its current location in Silver Spring, Maryland, in 2011, where it remains open to the public and actively supports medical research and education.
