Postcard featuring Emperor Wilhelm II of Germany and his wife at the Kaiser-Wilhelm-Kinderheim, possibly at its opening in May of 1913. The Kaiser-Wilhelm-Kinderheim was a summer resort on the Baltic for children of working class families and from deprived circumstances. In this black and white image, the Empress walks ahead, wearing a long dark skirt and jacket, a hat with feathers and a veil. She carries a parasol. The Emperor, in military uniform, walks behind, conversing with another man. In the background is part of a building and a car. Several other people appear in the image, including two women in nursing uniforms.
