- Major General H.G. Wright is assigned to the chief command of all the forces moving against the enemy retreating from Washington, and Major General GIllmore is relieved of temporary command of the 19th Army Corps in the Department of Washington while Brigadier General W.H. Emory remains in command of the portion of the 19th Corps from the Department of the Gulf.
