Over the past few decades, policymakers as well as the general public have become increasingly concerned about the prevalence of sexual intercourse among adolescents and the associated rates of teenage pregnancy and sexually transmitted diseases (STDs) among young people. While rates of teenage sex, pregnancy, births, and abortions have generally declined since the 1990's concerns about teen sexual activity persist.
