- One black and white photograph from a series of 5 on the topic of the PHS Cuban Refugee Program. This photograph shows PHS personnel greeting refugees arriving at the Cuban Refugee Processing Center, Opa Locka Airfield, Opa Locka, Fla. Quarantine inspectors are checking children for vaccination marks. Caption on typed page included with photograph: Buildings 68 and 69 at the Opa Locka Cuban Refugee Processing Center. Building No. 68 houses the Public Health Service Quarantine Division, Immigration and Naturalization Service, Customs Service and other federal agencies. The gate behind the group of men to the right of the picture opens to permit buses to drive in. The passengers then walk through the door into Building No. 68 (behind the two men in white shirts in the center of the picture). These buildings are renovated World War II Naval Air Station barracks.
