Domestic recipe book for ailments and conditions of all types. Also contains 14 loose scraps with recipes. The book was started in 1693 and was continued by a daughter until at least 1727. Elizabeth Strachey was the wife of notable geologist John Strachey of Somerset. One recipe bears the note "from Mr. Lock", presumably the philosopher John Locke, a close friend of the family's.
