Collection of approximately four hundred recipes compiled in 1750 by Joseph Gago. Approximately one hundred and seventy five represent what the compiler considered "rare secrets", the remaining taken from celebrated authors. Includes instructions on what to take for specific ailments, how to make various ointments, powders, elixirs, waters, etc., with some ingredients listed in tabular form. Also contains the signature of Osc. Reymann, 1877, an apothecary in Breslau, and of Marion B. Sulzberger, 1953, who researched immunology and allergic reactions. The section containing recipes from celebrated authors may have been assembled for the Countess von Altheim, whose name appears at the top of the first page.
